3 kayakers rescued from White River in Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Fire crews have rescued three people from the White River in Noblesville after a kayaking accident.

They say a man and his three children were kayaking Thursday when one of the kids hit a branch in the river and flipped her kayak. The father paddled over to help his daughter and hit the same branch — flipping his boat as well.

One of the other children paddled to an island in the river and the other made it to shore and called for help.

Crews used ropes to rescue the father and his daughter, who were both holding onto downed trees to prevent them from being swept into the current.

No injuries were reported. All four family members were wearing floatation devices.
