Gendex closing costs 75 jobs

Gendex Dental Systems, 901 W. Oakton St., Des Plaines is expected to close and eliminate about 75 jobs, according to documents posted online by the state on Thursday.

The company reportedly informed its workforce in mid-March and plans to start layoffs around May 9, the state said. A company spokesman, Michael Capasso, would not comment.

Gendex is a global company that researches, produces and distributes imaging equipment for the dental market. The Gendex Corp., emerged as a dental X-ray company after General Electric divided its medical and dental lines in 1983.
