Skokie man charged with selling counterfeit clothes

A 49-year-old man faces counterfeiting charges after Cook County sheriff's police say they seized $250,000 in phony sports gear from his Skokie warehouse.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office says it started investigating Ki Hwan Ahn after getting a tip about suspicious activity at his storefront in Skokie.

After several weeks of conducting surveillance, officers got a search warrant for the warehouse on March 31.

Inside, they say they found a large-scale counterfeiting operation, including software used to create the fake logos and embroidery machines.

Officers say they also found 10,000 hats and articles of clothing with counterfeit logos from professional and college sports teams.

It wasn't immediately determined if Ahn is being represented by a lawyer. He's next due in court in Skokie on April 14.
