A festival of fun for all ages at Relay For Life OF Elmhurst

Join the community of Elmhurst on June 18th at 2pm for a festival of fun for all ages at Relay For Life.

Held at Berens Park, this event is free to the public and we encourage everyone to come out for the day to see what all the 'hype' is about.

Relay For Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society in which teams of friends, families and co-workers from the community gather throughout the year to raise money in the fight against cancer. Teams then spend the day and night taking turns walking around a track in honor and in memory of loved ones affected by cancer. Those that decide to spend the night under the stars, pitch tents and get ready for a full night of activities. Entertainment for all ages will be at the Relay For Life throughout the duration of the event for our Relayers and guests.

Cancer Survivors in the community are Celebrated with a special reception in their honor and with a very moving Survivors Lap. Whether a person is newly diagnosed or has been in remission for years, we invite you to join us to be honored. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other survivors and support one another through the fight. Survivors can register to join by calling the American Cancer Society office at 630.932.1141 or by logging onto the event website www.relayforlifeelmhurst.com.

When the sun goes down, there is a very moving Luminaria ceremony . Luminaria can be purchased at the event or on the event website in honor of those that have won their battle and those currently battling the disease and also in memory of loved ones who have lost their battle to cancer. Relayers and guests then walk by the light of the Luminaria during this special time of Remembrance.

Throughout the day and night we are reminded of ways in which we can personally Fight Back against cancer. The American Cancer Society's Caring Cafe will be on site to teach participants and guests different ways to prevent cancer and also remind us of the importance of early detection. Through fun and games at the Caring Cafe, you will have an opportunity to personally Fight Cancer!

Through Celebrating, Remembering and Fighting Back at the Relay For Life, the funds raised are not only used for cancer research, but also for lifesaving programs and services offered by the American Cancer Society to cancer survivors in Elmhurst. Whether it be free wigs through a local Wig Boutique, Free rides for patients to their treatments, or other services of the American Cancer Society, you are helping cancer patients Get Well with the funds you raise at Relay.
