What Glen Ellyn park board is up to
Voters in Glen Ellyn will have a few choices to make on Tuesday, despite several slates where a vote simply agrees or disagrees with a choice already foregone. On the sample ballot I obtained from the DuPage Election Commission website, the Glen Ellyn Park District offers five candidates for three positions.
I will certainly vote for Kathy Cornell, Gary Mayo and Richard Dunn. These candidates intend to continue to press the park district to present its finances clearly; to pay attention to expressed priorities of Glen Ellyn citizens; and to rationally analyze available data about the use and condition of the park district’s facilities so that financial resources can be applied for the best benefit.
If you are interested in what the incumbent park district board is doing, they are scheduled to have a meeting the evening of election day. The agenda should be published on the district website beforehand; the 2,100-square-foot “warming hut” might be on the agenda. On previous agendas, it has been listed as “Maryknoll Safety and Recreation Center.”
