Fire quickly doused in Elgin
A fire at a house in Elgin was contained to one room and extinguished within minutes of firefighters arriving, authorities said.
The fire on the 700 block of East Chicago Street occurred at 12:40 p.m. Friday. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation on scene but didn’t require a trip to the hospital, according to the Elgin Fire Department.
It’s unclear how the fire started, and officials continue to investigate.
