Submitted by the village of Antioch
The village of Antioch is proud to announce its new 2011 Antioch queens: Miss Antioch 2011 Nicole Krause, Junior Miss Antioch 2011 Jasmine DeLara and Little Miss Antioch 2011 Tricia Olson.
First runners-up were Nicole Quist for Miss, Amanda England for Junior Miss, and Daylia Brock for Little Miss.
The new queens were crowned at the annual Antioch pageants, which were held recently at Antioch Community High School. This year’s theme was “Dreaming of the hero inside of you.”
The pageant was honored to grant a Make-A-Wish request at the pageant. The Make-A-Wish child was Vedia Johnson from Chicago, who wished to be a princess and was crowned as the “2011 Little Miss Hero.”
The village would like to thank the Antioch Comfort Inn and Suites for lodging the family during their stay, KC Sign Studio for donating her sash and Anastasia’s for a dinner for the family, as well as all the contestants for supplying her with a prize package.
The Antioch Police Department and Antioch Firefighters assisted by being the escorts for the evening. There were six Miss Antioch contestants, seven Junior Miss Antioch contestants and 12 Little Miss Antioch contestants.
Each queen received a prize package from Antioch businesses and, in addition, Miss Antioch Nicole Krause will receive a $1,150 scholarship for college, thanks to Raymond Chevrolet/Kia; W.D. Blake & Sons Well Drilling; Antioch VFW; State Bank of the Lakes; Orchard Medical Center; Ace Hardware; Mirror Images and past Antioch queens Graci Leineberg, Mary Cashmore, Marie Heffernan and Erin Haley-Supalo.
Antioch said farewell to 2010 queens Miss Meghan Opolka, Junior Miss Melissa Nettgen and Little Miss Aliya Rhodes.
The pageant is run by Jen Blake-Dosch, a volunteer for the village of Antioch Parks and Recreation Department, former Miss Antioch in 2002 and full-time 911 dispatcher for Countryside Fire Department in Vernon Hills and part-time 911 dispatcher for Cencom 911 in Round Lake Beach.
