Three keys to Cubs’ success

If the Cubs are to have success in 2011, Bruce Miles says it will be because of these three reasons:

1. The rotation: The Cubs’ top three starters — Ryan Dempster, Carlos Zambrano and Matt Garza — are billed to be as good as most in the National League. They’ll have to live up to that billing and get help from Nos. 4 and 5, Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner.

2. OBP, OBP: The Cubs have a several high-strikeout batters in their lineup. That won’t be a problem as long as the team finds a away to improve its on-base percentage from last year’s .320. If that happen, the strikeouts won’t hurt so much.

3. Health: The Cubs enter the season as perhaps the healthiest team in the NL Central. If their luck holds out, they could take advantage of other teams’ misfortune.
