Mayor’s been there every step of the way
As a Carol Stream resident and an elected official, I have had the opportunity to work with Mayor Frank Saverino on many issues. In the last couple of years Carol Stream has been hit with serve flooding as many other areas have been.
When DuPage County started looking for solutions to the problems, no other mayor has stood up and made his voice heard more than Frank Saverino. When the county looked to buy out flood-prone homes, Mayor Saverino spoke up, and Carol Stream with the county got the money to buy out three homes.
When the stormwater management committee was debating flood projects in DuPage County and what projects would get funding, what mayor was present to plead his case and ask for help for his village: Mayor Saverino. When the county board was looking at issuing $5 million of bonds for improvements to Klein Creek and building the Armstrong Park Reservoir, it was Mayor Saverino again who spoke at the meeting arguing that Carol Stream needed this project.
So, I am surprised when I read about others running for office in Carol Stream talking about the flooding and ideas or solutions they might have. When it comes to Carol Stream flooding issues, no one else has talked to me and been more on top of this issue than Mayor Saverino. True leadership is what you do to solve problems when they take place in your community and Frank Saverino has been there for Carol Stream every step of the way.
