Change would be wrong for SHS

Having just received an e-mail from 125for125.org, or the “Flamingo Three” as they are known by, for their attempt to ban this and other books, I do not find it surprising that they would be sending e-mails criticizing the current Stevenson Board for approving an upgrade to the library.

According to Kathy Powell, Kim Brady, and Charles Cardella, updating the library with “wider stairs, updated lighting, and more study rooms,” are luxuries akin to adding “Cappuccino machines and barista.”

The library has not been substantially upgraded since my husband went to Stevenson, over 30 years ago. I do not consider better lighting for our students a “luxury.” Is this how they plan to “restore Stevenson’s academic ranking?” For 18 years Stevenson High School has ranked in the top 200 schools across the nation. It is not time for a change!
