Janda, Grayslake Central win twice in Florida
Florida continues to treat Grayslake Central’s softball team well.
Tayler Janda pitched the Rams to two more wins Thursday, as they swept a doubleheader from Badger (Wis.), winning 12-2 and 9-0 on their spring trip.
Claire Brennan doubled four times on the day, as the Rams improved to 3-0 on their trip.
Brennan hit 3 doubles in the first game, scored three times and knocked in a run. Sarah Kuligowski also had 3 hits and 3 runs scored for Grayslake Central, while Anna Strickland went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Janda did not allow an earned run, as she struck out seven, walked one and scattered 3 hits over 7 innings.
In Game 2, Grayslake Central received 2 hits apiece from Brennan (double, 2 runs), Caitlin Flary (2 runs, RBI) and Janda (run). In the circle, Janda had 5 strikeouts and yielded just 4 hits.
Buffalo Grove 4, Lake Zurich 2: The Bears fell to 2-2 on the season, despite outhitting the Bison 9-5.
Lake Zurich was led offensively by Kelly Neises (3-for-4, RBI), Megan Mattera (2-for-3) and Tab Bohac (2-for-3, run).
Mattera (2-2) suffered the loss. She struck out six and did not issue a walk.
