Former Grainger lunchroom manager denies theft charges

The former lunchroom manager at Grainger, Inc., in Lincolnshire pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges she stole more than $15,000 from the company that employed her.

Christina Wiegman, 39, of Trevor, Wis., could spend up to five years in prison if convicted of felony theft but would also be eligible for probation.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney James Newman said Wiegman managed the lunchroom for Aramark, Inc., of Downers Grove from August 2010 until Feb. 11.

Lincolnshire police were called after an internal audit of the lunchroom's books done by Aramark showed $15,339 was missing, Newman said.

Investigators interviewed Wiegman, who was the only person authorized to prepare bank deposits of the lunchroom money, and Newman said she admitted stealing more than $10,000.

Circuit Judge John Phillips scheduled a trial of the case for June 6 and ordered Wiegman to appear in court May 12.
