Sky to hold open tryouts May 8

For the first time in its WNBA history, the Chicago Sky will conduct an open tryout to help build its roster for the upcoming season.

The special tryout, hosted by new Sky coach and general manager Pokey Chatman, will take place on Sunday, May 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield.

Registration is $100, and spots are limited but all interested players can download the registration form atchicagosky.net and mail, fax or bring the form to te venue on May 8 with registration fee.

All participants will receive a Sky practice jersey, a gift bag and a ticket to any 2011 Sky regular season home game. A portion of their registration fee will also be donated to Sky Cares.

To be eligible for the tryouts, participants must meet one of the following criteria: They must have graduated from college or their class must have graduated; they must be at least 20 years old and have two years of professional playing experience before attending the tryout.
