Prospect Hts. doesn't need Vole for another term
I am writing in response to the Herald's endorsement of Dolly Vole for mayor of Prospect Heights.
As a 24-year resident, I was stunned. As mayor, she has done exactly nothing to improve the city or benefit the residents. Our roads continue to deteriorate, we continue to go without fire hydrant protection in large portions of the city and our police protection has fallen to a level that is unsafe.
Ms. Vole has opposed all opportunities for economic development. On that her record is very clear. She continues to insist our current police protection is adequate — it is not. She is burning out dedicated officers with excessive overtime, which is needed just to provide minimal protection for the city.
Ms. Vole has stacked committees with friends and cronies, replacing far more qualified individuals. With Ms. Vole's “my way or the highway” attitude this city is in far worse shape than it was when she took office, and the downward spiral continues.
You implied Ms. Vole inherited this mess. That is only partially true. She was an alderman prior to her election, and needs to face up to the fact that she is partially responsible for the shape the city is in. Her record is clear — she has not done anything to benefit the city or citizens of Prospect Heights.
I am guessing you did not drive through the community and see the horrible shape our streets are in.
I am guessing you did not talk with many residents. No one I know in Prospect Heights is satisfied with the condition of our roads, much less our city.
I hope you will do additional research on the conditions here and recognize the trouble we are in. I am sure you will reconsider your endorsement of Ms. Vole and recognize that Nick Helmer is a far better choice for mayor.
We need someone who has the ability to lead us out of this mess, not a mayor who is comfortable with the status quo.
