Consolidation of school districts wise
Add my voice to those agreeing with your recent editorial calling for study of the governor’s recommendation to restructure school districts in Illinois. This restructuring would include consolidation into unit (K-12) systems.
I comes from a pro-education family — father a superintendent, teachers, and I have served on local elementary and national college boards. This step would be organizational and management in nature and would leave the content to the educational professionals whose national leadership has been actively engaged for several years in seeking improvements on the product side.
Finally, these same considerations would be useful for local municipal, police, fire, park and library districts with the result of improved service and reduced costs.
