Burlington claims BNC indoor crown

The Burlington Central girls track team scored 122 points to edge out Byron (101) for the Big Northern Conference girls indoor title late Wednesday night. Hampshire was fourth with 65 points.

BC’s Markelle Turk won the 3,200 run in a time of 12:17.80, and Katie Trupp took first in the high jump (5-1), while Allie Settanni won the shot put (35-2).

Alexa Tovsen took second for the Rockets in the 400 (27.52), while Turk was second in the 1,600 (5:34.06). Autumn Conn was second in the pole vault (10-0). The Rockets also got second-place finishes from their 3,200 relay team of Katie Puccio, Hannah Williams, Jane Crocetti and Katie Bush (10:29.34) and from the 1,600 relay team of Cailie Thommes, Kayla Wolf, Crocetti and Tovsen (4:19.80).

Hampshire was led by returning state qualifier Cassie Kruse, who won the 800 in 2:19.53, was second in the 400 (1:01.14) and ran with Paige Membrano, Elizabeth Pagan and Autumn Chomenko on the winning 1,600 relay team (4:18.06).
