Lombard blood drive expands to Yorktown Center April 13
The next village of Lombard community blood drive will be held April 13, but this drive will be a little bit different.
Blood drive coordinator Carol Bauer has been trying to get various community groups to partner with the Village in hopes of increasing the number of blood donors to accommodate the urgent need for blood. Yorktown Center has stepped up to fulfill the partnership role, in conjunction with Famous Dave's and Culver's Restaurant.
Donors may visit the village hall, 255 E. Wilson, on April 13 for blood donations from 1:30-7 p.m. and Yorktown Center, off Highland Avenue side near Famous Dave's, from 4-7:30 p.m.
All donors of the spring blood drive will be entered into a drawing for a $200 Yorktown shop and dine gift card as well as an overnight stay at the Westin Hotel. All blood donors who are members of the Four Seasons Club are also eligible for other gifts as well. Donors at Village Hall will receive a gift from Culver's Restaurant in Lombard while donors at Yorktown will receive something from Famous Dave's.
“Our goal for this drive is to surpass the 200 donor mark,” said Bauer. “With everyone's help and the partnerships we've formed, I feel certain we are on the right track to getting there,” she added.
Bauer and others will be guest on Village President Bill Mueller's “Open Mike” program, which airs on Comcast channel 6, AT&T U-Verse channel 99 and on-demand on the Village of Lombard's website, www.villageoflombard.org. The program will begin airing the week of March 28.
