Motorola to buy Swedish software maker Dreampark
Motorola Mobility Inc. said Wednesday it signed a deal to acquire Dreampark, a Swedish maker of software for TV systems based on Internet technology. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter, and Dreampark will be integrated into the Motorola Medios software suite, which is designed to let service providers like cable companies send content to phones and PCs in addition to TV sets.
Motorola Mobility, based in Libertyville, makes cellphone and cable set-top boxes, including ones for Internet-based TV systems. It broke away from the rest of Motorola in January.
Dreampark says it has the most-used software for Internet TV systems in Europe.
