Leyden 4, Oak Park 3: Leyden’s softball team kicked off its season with a 4-3 win at Oak Park-River Forest on Monday.

April Markowski (2-for-3) belted 2 home runs for the Eagles while Morgan Maize (1-3, triple), Dana Sullivan (2-3, RBI, 1 run) and Jen Hall (1-3, triple) were other key hitters for Leyden, which was outhit 8-7.

Maize, a junior two-time all-conference hurler, earned the win with 10 strikeouts, 4 walks and 2 earned runs in 7 innings.
