Whose side are lawmakers on?

It is interesting to see how some view the 14 Democratic senators of Wisconsin as somehow being heroic in their attempt to derail the recently passed law dealing with public sector union employees.

Can one conclude that the Democratic Party from President Obama on down to Democratic state officers are on the union side of 350,000 Wisconsin public employees to keep their wages and benefits high in a tough economic times?

Can one conclude that the Wisconsin Republican governor and legislators are on the side of the 5.5 million Wisconsin taxpayers to control their state deficit and avoid passing a law late at night in a lame duck session to increase state income tax by 67 percent?

Our elected officials are supposed to consider taxpayers’ interest first. I ask my fellow Illinois taxpayers, is the Illinois Democratic Party on the side of taxpayers or public union employees?
