Three injured in Batavia crash
Three people were injured early Monday evening in what an initial investigation indicates was a head-on crash in Batavia.
Emergency crews responded to the three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kirk and Giese roads at about 5:30 p.m., said Batavia Fire Department Lt. Shawn Stephens.
Two victims of the crash were transported to Mercy Medical Center in Aurora and a third was taken to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva with nonlife-threatening injuries, officials said.
One vehicle was rear-ended at the intersection and pushed into oncoming traffic, where a third car struck the vehicle head-on, Stephens said.
Traffic was shut down to one northbound lane for about 45 minutes and southbound traffic was diverted, he said.
