Pingree Grove seeking trustee applicants

Pingree Grove is seeking applicants to fill the seat that will be vacated by Trustee Greg Marston, the only candidate running for village president April 5.

This is the first time the village has opened the appointment process to the public, Village Administrator Bill Barlow said. In the past, candidates were named by the village president and approved by a board vote.

The new process was Marston’s idea, Barlow said. Marston did not return calls seeking comment.

Eligible candidates for the two-year term must be 18 or older and have lived in the village for at least a year before the appointment, expected to take place at the May 16 village board meeting, Barlow said.

Candidates will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire and some applicants will be interviewed, although it’s still to be determined who will conduct the interviews, Barlow said. The final candidate will be selected by the village president, and the village board will have to approve by a majority vote.

Interested candidates should send their resume and a cover letter by April 7 to Marston, Village of Pingree Grove, 14N042 Reinking Road, or e-mail it to bbarlow@pingreegrove.org. For more information, call Barlow at (847) 464-5533.
