Warren High hoops celebration Sunday

The Warren Township High School's boys basketball team will be celebrated Sunday when they return from the state finals in Peoria, no matter where in the finals they finish. Mark Pos, District 121 athletic director, said the team will first stop on the northbound side of the Lake Forest Oasis on the Tri-State Tollway between 1-1:15 p.m. Gurnee police and fire department vehicles will escort the Blue Devils to the Grand Avenue east exit, to O'Plaine Road in Gurnee and past Warren's freshman-sophomore campus. The motorcade will continue to Washington Street and west to Almond Road. Weather permitting, the team will get atop a fire truck and ride the final leg south to Warren's Almond Road upperclassmen campus with an expected arrival time of 2-2:15 p.m. Pos, basketball coach Chuck Ramsey, O'Plaine campus Principal Jeff Brierton, Almond campus Principal Rob Parrott, Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik, a Warren High board member and a yet-to-be-determined player are scheduled to address the crowd. Pos said the basketball team is slated to leave Peoria at 10 a.m. Sunday.
