A firefighter’s pension perspective
I am a retired, 30-year veteran of the fire service here in DuPage County. I went to work every morning with my family and myself not knowing if I would see them again. I believe I earned my pension and as a member of the fire service; we never put a gun to the politicians in the past to give me these benefits. We asked and we were given.
Is it our fault that the governing bodies managed it wrong and because of this, future public employees have to pay for their mistakes? And I ask, what type of pensions will the politicians be receiving, and how much in health care do they pay? Maybe they should look in the mirror before they go after the people who are teaching their children and protecting their lives and property.
