Let’s be reasonable on gun control

When will the next massacre happen? Who will be a victim? Maybe it will be your neighbor. Maybe it will be your senator or congressman. Maybe it will be you or a loved one. It will certainly happen again unless we actually do something to stop all this madness.

Those Americans who have made a religion of the Second Amendment have pretty much said that a psychopath like Jared Loughner has a right to go into a gun shop and walk out with a weapon of mass death. I suggest that our government and the people of this country have the right and the moral obligation to keep such deadly devices out of the hands of the insane and homicidal. We have the obligation to keep guns away from people we notice are sliding into the depths of insanity. Maybe there could be a national database to aid us with this moral obligation.

I am truly baffled why those that are so enamored with an amendment that begins with “well-regulated” would be so against any reasonable regulations. What reasonable use does anyone have with a gun that can fire off 31 rounds without reloading? Who but a drug lord or a gangbanger or a psychopath would need a weapon of capable of such immediate devastation? Who will save you or your loved ones during the next massacre?

With all the people packing weapons in Arizona no one was there to save the lives of the nine who were murdered. The truth is five or six people will be shot dead before Mom will be able get her gun out of her purse. As long as the gun lobby holds our country hostage the only advice I can give you is to learn how to duck.
