Check your facts on state retirees

I wish that Larry Maurer would check his facts before making incorrect and broad statements about state retirees and health insurance premiums. He alleges that 90 percent of state retirees get free health insurance. Really, Larry? Where do you get your information?

I am a retired Illinois public schoolteacher and I pay over $5,500 a year out of my pocket for my health coverage! My premiums go up very year.

I then looked online and, according to the Illinois Department of Central Management Services listing information about the State Employees Group Insurance Program, all those covered employees pay a monthly fee for their health insurance. I am sure that there are various programs out there for different groups of state retirees. So, Larry’s allegations of 90 percent free health coverage cannot be true.

So, please, Larry and everyone else, check out facts before you make misleading and untrue claims about other people.
