Munda, Conley and Conway in District 121

Daily Herald Editorial Board

Voters will choose from six candidates for three four-year terms on the Warren Township High School District 121 school board.

They are incumbents Michael B. Munda, Richard E. Conley and David J. Grum, and newcomers Mark B. Lund, Tony Bennett and Barbara Conway.

Munda, principal of the Lake County Office of Regional Education’s Alternative Program, wants to form more feeder district partnerships to provide cost-effective services. Conley brings extensive government finance experience and a watchdog mentality. That is critical as Warren works with constraints posed by the weak economy.

Both are solid board members who merit our endorsement. We also endorse Conway, who has a passion and knowledge about Warren from years of participation on groups ranging from booster clubs to the citizen referendum committee.

Grum did not participate in our interviews or provide answers to our questionnaire.

Lund and Bennett share Conley’s financial watchdog activism, but lack his insight and experience.
