Choose wisely; the future of Barrington Hills is in voters’ hands

April 5 is an important election in Barrington Hills. Several past elections were rife with negativism and exaggerations; things haven’t changed much. Again some elected trustees are among the agitators. Trustees have a fiduciary duty to correct spoken and written misrepresentations about how our government functions; that is not happening.

The Save5acres group, Karen Selman, Patty Meroni and Joe Messer, is running as a group of loosely connected independents on the ballot, not a party. They are as independent as candidate Stieper.

The Common Sense Party is not independent, and is heavily financed by developers and outside interests. Check the SBOE website. CSP has used a loophole for the tea party, allowing them to not register their candidates. They are not required to publish their donors, denominations given, nor have monetary caps. Independent candidates are held to a higher standard.

With CSP funds over $100,000 for about 1,200 households, envision what the proposal for “feathering” our borders means to hovering developers and property owners wanting to subdivide their larger parcels, many located in the middle of our village.

This race is about whether developers will unwind the unique zoning in our community, not about the lighting ordinance which the village board approved with an increase in allowable lighting for security and areas such as tennis courts and pools. This election is not about President Abboud, who solidly won his second term.

Attend coffees for all candidates. Check facts. Investigate the claims. Our village government record is available for your perusal.
