House ‘completely destroyed’ by fire

A large, one-story ranch house in Bull Valley was destroyed by fire Sunday while the owner was out of town.

McHenry Fire Department responded just after 4 a.m. after someone driving by called 9-1-1. The department was assisted by Woodstock, Richmond, Spring Grove, Wonder Lake, Nunda, Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake and Round Lake fire departments.

No one was hurt in the blaze, but McHenry Assistant Chief Joe Krueger said the house in the 200 block of Whitaker Court was “completely destroyed.”

Krueger said the house was fully involved, with flames through the roof, when his unit arrived at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing into the causes of the fire, and Krueger could not say where the fire may have begun.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire. Two pets were in an outside kennel and therefore saved from the flames.
