For Round Lake trustee: Blum, Multerer, Rowley

Round Lake trustees have refused to become overwhelmed by a population that has tripled in 10 years. In fact, they see growth as an asset and are working to put the village in a position to attract new business when the recession eases. Meanwhile, the fiscal health remains strong. For those reasons we endorse Trustees Michael Blum and Dale Multerer for two of the three open seats. During their terms they filled three top staff positions and successfully negotiated a compromise police contract that prevented layoffs while reducing raises. In addition, they purchased land in two key areas to help make Round Lake an economic center.

The four challengers are Greg Clements, Dawn Simoncelli, Vickie Wicinski and Douglas Rowley. Rowley, a lifelong resident and retired public works supervisor for Round Lake, stands out. His insights on protecting the assets of the village would help give priority to Round Lake’s image. While Wicinski and Clements object to the land acquisitions, we see those as part of the forward thinking the village needs.
