Let’s be consistent about ‘ethic of life’
As distasteful as abolishing the death penalty may be for many of us on an emotional level, we have the sense that it is the right decision. Now we need to take the next logical step of eliminating capital punishment for non-offenders, namely, the unborn. Only then will we be practicing what the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin referred to as “a consistent ethic of life”.
