Arends, Shipman, Martin for Bartlett village board
Daily Herald Editorial Board
Some new faces will be elected to the Bartlett village board this year, as only one incumbent is seeking re-election to the three four-year seats available.
That incumbent, T.L. Arends, a village trustee since 1991 and a vice president at Harris Bank, should be re-elected again. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge about Bartlett to the board that is invaluable.
Gregory Martin and Eric Shipman deserve our endorsement for the other two slots. Shipman, a police sergeant in another community and a volunteer firefighter in Bartlett, asks the right questions and displays an even temperament that should make him an effective board member.
Martin, an artist and president of his homeowner’s association, understands the village must work with its business owners and communicate well with its residents.
Joseph Felice styles himself as the common-man trustee candidate. But we believe the background and experiences of the other three will benefit Bartlett more.
