Garner, Park and Ross for Gurnee board

Daily Herald Editorial Board

With a large mall bringing in significant revenue, Gurnee faces different challenges than most other communities. Incumbent Gregory Garner asks tough questions about the direction of the mall and has a good grasp of village issues. Steve Park brings impressive credentials and experience — both public and private — that would be a boon to the board as it deals with supporting the mall and development on East Grand Avenue. While her approach to issues surrounding the mall can be hard to pin down, incumbent Cheryl Ross has a long and valuable history with Gurnee and provides an important community voice. Newcomers Heath Hummel and Matt Koch have strong professional credentials, but both need more community involvement on their civic resume. Garner, Park and Ross are endorsed for the three slots on the village board.
