Rain causes slick roads Wednesday
Rain and snow is falling in northern Illinois, while traffic and spin outs are taking place in the rest of the state due to heavy rainfall.
The worst of the crashes took place in Palatine after a car spun out, went off the road, and hit a tree, pining the driver inside at Lake-Cook and Hicks roads.
Officials remain on the scene of that crash, and details of the accident are unknown at this time.
The rain is expected to continue on and off for most of the day, meteorologists from the National Weather Service said Wednesday.
Then, tonight, the temperatures will drop and turn to light snow and flurries Thursday.
Officials said, because of the water, people should be prepared for ice conditions during the Thursday morning commute.
