Mendez for Prospect Heights, Ward 1

In Ward 1 of Prospect Heights, incumbent Richard Hamen, 40, faces a challenge from former Alderman Luis Mendez, 54. Hamen just came off a losing bid for state representative. We remain unimpressed with his initiative and ability to solve difficult challenges. In a return to office, Mendez promises to focus on generating business, sales tax revenue and improving public safety. He also is open to privatizing some services to save money. Mendez should work to improve his communication skills, but he is endorsed over Hamen.
