Endorsement: Werfel, Waldenstrom, Jarvis for Grayslake village board
Three incumbents and one newcomer are running for three 4-year seats on the Grayslake village board. None are a bad choice. Two-term incumbent Jeff Werfel clearly is the most experienced, most polished and probably most skilled of the candidates, helping to oversee a long period of effective fiscal management that has kept Grayslake in relatively good shape today. Kevin Waldenstrom, appointed two years ago, is a business owner who’s a bit short on ideas but who already has a solid grasp of how to conduct village business. Ron Jarvis, running for a second term, is passionate about the village and a hard worker who does have some solid ideas. Quin O’Brien, the newcomer, is another business owner who comes with good ideas and even from the outside has a solid grasp of village business. Though he’d be a fine choice, we’re inclined toward the direct experience of the incumbents, and we endorse Werfel, Waldenstrom and Jarvis.
