Elgin man charged with sexual assault of minor

A 58-year-old man was charged Tuesday with two felony counts of criminal sexual assault against a minor after his arrest Monday, according to court documents.

Octavio Alfaro, of the 600 block of North Lyle Avenue in Elgin, could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the felonies. The alleged victim is known to Alfaro and younger than 18, bond call documents said. The Kane County State’s Attorney did not release further information about the age of the victim.

Bail was set at $500,000, of which Alfaro must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, set for 9 a.m. March 17 in the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles.
