Arlington Heights man makes clock commemorating 9/11 anniversary

An Arlington Heights man gave village leaders a clock Monday that he plans to market in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

The face of the clock shows an eagle that Angelos Theotokatos designed with wings made of the American flag. The only numbers on the mahogany framed clock are 9, 11, and 01. At the bottom of the clock are the initials NY. Theotokatos, who formerly owned the restaurants Angelos in Vernon Hills and Sam's Place in Mount Prospect, said there is a strong charitable component to the project, although he hopes to make a profit.

Each purchaser can designate whether $10 goes to support a group of police officers, firefighters or the fight against breast cancer, he said.

In addition, the clocks are made by visually impaired people working with the Chicago Lighthouse. The decision to hire the Lighthouse to make the clocks was made because Theotokatos thought they should be made in the United States.

Each clock is $49.95 plus $7.95 shipping and handling. For more information, visit 911clocksonline.com/
