Which version of creationism to teach?

Good for the Lake Zurich school district school board for endorsing creationism (“Yes votes for God in class,” Feb. 26). Now the real debate can begin and we’ll see what the board members really want to foist on the students.

Will the textbook espouse the Jewish or Catholic interpretation of Old Testament creationism? My Greek friends would like to see equal time to the Nyx version from Greek mythology (as opposed to Judeo-Christian mythology). And I know several district residents of Indian background that will lobby for their version of creationism as taught in the Upanishads.

So be happy, parents. So much classroom time will be spent teaching all the versions of creationism that your graduating seniors will know the earth-diver theory, but won’t be able to do algebra, understand the Constitution or any of the legitimate sciences.
