Save economy by ending foreign aid

I have one idea to cut federal spending by $58 billion without affecting a single domestic program or a single American citizen. All we have to do is stop giving away foreign aid.

Our current budget for foreign aid is $58 billion ... and I for the life of me can’t see how this has benefited a single American. Particularly in these times, with our financial ship sinking we can ill afford to be sending our life boats to other ships. We need to start thinking about our own citizens.

Unfortunately, when I suggested this to Senator Durbin he replied that there is no sense in even looking at cuts in foreign aid because it is only 2.5 percent of the total federal budget. Senator Durbin apparently thinks it is fine to cut Medicare, Medicaid and social security benefits for our senior citizens but sees no way to cut aid to foreign countries.
