In Bensenville: Ridder, Bartlett, Johnson

By The Daily Herald Editorial Board

Bensenville voters will choose from among six candidates for three village board seats in the April 5 election. Perhaps more important, they will decide whether to continue the village hall housecleaning that began two years ago or maintain remnants of the past administration.

Three of the candidates, JoEllen Ridder, Morris Bartlett and Robert Jarecki, are running as the Change 4 Bensenville party backed by Village President Frank Soto. Bartlett was elected to the board two years ago as part of the Soto sweep, Ridder was elected village clerk in the same election and Jarecki is a longtime park district veteran and Soto ally.

The others, village board incumbents Patricia Johnson and John Adamowski and newcomer Mary Ann Tully, are running as independents.

We endorse Bartlett and Ridder based on their work to put the village on a more positive and productive track over the past two years. We also endorse Johnson, whose term spanned both administrations and who brings a knowledge of zoning and land development that will be helpful as the village strives to attract businesses to take advantage of its proximity to O’Hare.
