Mardi Gras at Woodland Intermediate

Fourth-grade students at Woodland Intermediate School in Gurnee will participate Tuesday in an annual Mardi Gras celebration with classroom teacher Teresa Glancy. Festivities will begin in Glancy’s classroom where students will enjoy two King Cakes before crowning this year’s king and queen of Mardi Gras. The pupils then will parade through the halls of Woodland Intermediate wearing Mardi Gras beads and bright masks of various colors they made, while listening to music. The parade is part of Glancy’s curriculum focusing on the Southeast region of the United States.
