$250,000 bail in Naperville bar stabbing

Bail was set at $250,000 Monday for a Lombard man accused of stabbing a bouncer who tried to evict him from a Naperville tavern over the weekend.

Adam B. Hearn, 31, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon after the altercation early Saturday at BlackFinn American Saloon, 16 W. Jefferson Ave.

Prosecutors said a bouncer was stabbed once in the abdomen after he tried to escort Hearn and his girlfriend out of the bar. The confrontation began when the couple was caught smoking in a bathroom, police said.

The attack left the bouncer with a three-inch gash, Assistant State’s Attorney Jeffrey Muntz said at a bond hearing Monday. The victim later underwent surgery at Edward Hospital, police said.

“The defendant, after stabbing the victim, threatened to kill anybody who came near him,” Muntz told Judge Michael Wolfe.

Authorities said other security guards subdued Hearn until police arrived. Hearn’s girlfriend, 25-year-old Kelly L. Cihlar of Woodridge, also was arrested on charges of obstructing police, resisting arrest, battery, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Hearn, of the 900 block of South Main Street in Lombard, is a known gang member who has served prison time for manufacturing or delivery of the drug ecstasy and attempted murder, prosecutors said.

Appearing in court with his right arm in a sling, Hearn told the judge he earned about $65,000 last year as an electrician in Oak Brook. He would have to post a $25,000 bond to go free while his case is pending.
