For Barrington village board: Windon, Daluga, Hunt

The campaign for three seats on the Barrington village board is a contest that features three candidates with similar philosophies on the village’s high-profile dispute with the Canadian National Railway and a fourth who questions the approach the village has taken.

While we like the feistiness of small business owner Michael Kozel, we think McHenry County prosecutor Robert Windon and incumbents Jim Daluga and Paul Hunt better reflect the views of the community on the important CN issue, and we endorse their candidacies.

We’re impressed by Windon’s thoughtfulness and the public safety insights he would apply to the village’s efforts to mitigate the effects of the CN freight traffic in town.

Meanwhile, Daluga has displayed a strong intellect and leadership ability on the village board, and Hunt has been an able trustee with good collaborative skills.
