Gurnee American Legion bash

Gurnee American Legion Post 771 will celebrate the organization’s 92nd anniversary with a dinner and a Pearl Harbor survivor as guest speaker. The event is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19. Social hour will kick off the evening at the post building at 649 N. Milwaukee Ave., followed by a traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner. Following a presentation of colors and a POW/MIA ceremony, retired Navy Capt. Ralph Laedtke will speak. Laedtke is a Pearl Harbor survivor and served 30 years in the Navy, rising to senior officer. Tickets are $10 and are available now at the Gurnee American Legion bar or by telephoning Vice Commander Gordon Finkle at (847) 366-2375. The American Legion was founded in 1919 and is the largest veterans organization with more than 1 million members.
