What will military do in Egypt?
Do we live in a republic or a democracy? In a republic we elect people to represent us in a Congress. The Romans around 300 B.C. lived in a Republic. In a democracy the people participate in their government, there are no elected representatives. The Greeks lived in a democracy about the same time; Romans lived in a Republic.
The Egyptian people live in a republic, but apparently they are not clear on the concept. Their representatives should have removed Mubarak from power. Articles of parts of their constitution provides the means for impeaching and removing Mubarak, through their representatives. Instead, they did it themselves.
In essence, they destroyed their republic and established a democracy until the military took control, So how long will it take to give the people the power to govern themselves? What kind of government will the military establish? They, the Egyptians, were living in a republic until they took action contrary to republic principles.
Power is difficult to relinquish. Hosni Mubarak proved this true. Will the military also find it difficult to return power to the people, and maybe establish a benevolent dictatorship for the Egyptian people who had a republic and did not keep the republic by their actions?
