Politicians have saddled us with debt

We have lived and voted for our choices in elections within Arlington Heights, Cook County, Illinois and the nation, and no matter what the politician said, he/she did not carry through with good fiscal management, resulting in a cumulative debt that makes the taxpayer responsible for repayment. Now to make matters worse the national debt is now at 14.3 trillion, with request to increase it another 1.4 trillion.

The major problem now is that our national output is 14.6 trillion, and an increase of debt beyond the current level will indeed make us a good candidate for national bankruptcy, perhaps in addition to having a high rate of inflation or selling bonds to make us in hock to a foreign nation such as China. We have a Congress that has put us in this precarious position. This includes state, county and municipal leaders.

It is no wonder that this is indeed serving special interest groups. Social Security was initiated (by FDR without set-aside funds) as a glorious new taxation to benefit the elderly. Since its inception, officials have included additional persons for which no added tax was added to cover the expense; then they began fund set-aside but placed the money in U.S. bonds (the theory being that they gain interest, but in fact the interest goes to the bond purchaser, not the Social Security program). All this debt is a true, authorized national government con game, making we the citizens responsible for the repayment.

Wise up, citizens. Your Constitution is being eroded from within. Is it our fault for not taking an active part?
