Fox News not so fair and balanced
I tried to watch Fox News with a neutral attitude. I have heard so much about Bill O'Reilly and his “balanced” approach that I figured it was time to check it out.
How Fox can call itself a news program is the great mystery. I understand in Canada a network that proposed a similar format was told they were not allowed to call themselves a “news” program.
I watched segments on O'Reilly with Laura Ingraham, a well known right wing commentator, and Donald Rumsfeld, a Reagan and Bush apologist, that were nothing more than a stage for Fox to spew their ideology.
O'Reilly's approach is slick but as transparent as Saran Wrap. He pretends to challenge his guests, tosses up a protest or two then summarizes by barking his right wing screed. He lets his guest go on and on with their conservative views, occasionally tossing up brief opposition, then letting them finish their point, unopposed.
For some reason tough follow-up questions are nonexistent. If this were a true news program those questions would be obvious.
O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannitty — bad for America.
