State won't borrow its way to prosperity
Kudos to your editorial, “Pain, innovation must come first in Springfield.” The Senate Republicans have pledged that we will not allow Governor Quinn to borrow another $8.7 billion and increase spending $1.7 billion more than he did last year.
Outrageously, Quinn's spending plan follows the Democrats' lame-duck session 67 percent income tax hike. Like other governors nationwide, it is not in Governor Quinn's DNA to significantly cut the State budget. No state ever borrowed or taxed its way into prosperity.
