Elgin brothers face felony drug charges

Two Elgin brothers may face deportation after a search of their residence found 60 grams of cocaine, police said.

Abel Flores, 35, and his 31-year-old brother, Jose, are being held in lieu of $750,000 bail after a Monday night search of their residence discovered the cocaine.

Both brothers have been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Police began investigating the Flores brothers after several neighbors complained about alleged drug traffic in the area of the 400 block of Stella Street in Elgin, police said.

Immigration Customs Enforcement has placed detainers on the brothers for their deportation, authorities said.

Abel Flores also had two outstanding traffic warrants.
